Farewell to Tricia Vierra

Thank you for the wonderful goodbye. I am touched by the number of you who came to say goodbye at the morning tea and lunch as well as those who could not come to the events but took time to wish well. I truly appreciate the thought that went to selecting the necklace (perfect!) and the gorgeous flowers and the generous gift certificate to my favourite bookshop (and coffee venue)!
The times here have been some of the most enjoyable of my career and I thank you all. We have accomplished a lot together over the past 5 years.
I will say hello (briefly) when I am in the neighbourhood and will welcome any emails (with news, gossip and greetings) sent to my home address at ahtv@internode.on.net.

Farewell to Anne Shepherd

On Tuesday 4 May 2010, we farewelled Anne Shepherd, Library Assistant, Client Services, Morris Miller Library. Anne is very pleased to take up a contract position at the State Reference Library here in Hobart. Anne was awarded her Graduate Diploma in Information Management from UTAS in 2008 and has been most eager to gain a Librarian position.

From 2005 to 2008 Anne worked at as part of the Service Desk team in Launceston. She then transferred to the Morris Miller Library so that she could undertake her librarianship studies. On graduation in 2009, Anne worked on contract as a Liaison Librarian based at the Morris Miller Library while others were on leave, so she has some good experience to take with her to the State Library.

We wish Anne well and thank her for her contribution to our services.

Graeme Rayner's Launceston Farewell

Graeme travelled to Launceston on Tuesday the 16th to catch up with Northern colleagues before his retirement on Friday. Past and present staff joined Graeme at a morning tea and later a small group joined him for lunch at Seaport.

Farewell Morning Tea for Chong

A morning tea was held Wednesday 3rd of Febuary  to farewell Chong who is returning to Singapore to work for Apple Inc. - Chong worked on the IT help desk and the Client Services Desk in the Morris Miller Library before moving to IT.  All the library staff will miss his friendly personality and can do attitude.

He is being replaced by Kevin Eaves who will be the Library IT support tech.

A parting word from Chong............

Dear all,

As you may know, my last day working at UTAS IT Resources is on the 5th February 2010.
I have recently accepted an offer from Apple Inc. in Singapore and will be moving there shortly. I will miss Tasmania but am looking forward to returning to Singapore, as I will be closer to my family.
In the past 4 years that I have worked for UTAS (Library, Accommodation Services and ITR), I have learned tremendously. If not for your constant support and encouragement I would not have been able to perform my duties so well. Professionally, I have gained a lot of knowledge and I shall always cherish this as one of the most satisfying phases in my career.
Personally too I have shared a special bonding with all of you and I shall take away with me cherished memories of our times together. I look forward to any of you visiting me in Singapore and if there is anything I can do for you from there, please do let me know.
But before I go, I wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed my time here. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my work colleagues and let you all know how I've enjoyed working with you guys. I wish you all success in the future and am grateful for the opportunity to work with you.
Please direct all work-related issues to James Harrison at james.harrison@utas.edu.au. (Thank you James for helping me with this transition.) I shall keep you posted on my new address and new telephone numbers once I get settled in the new place.


Once again, thank you all for your support, patience, guidance and friendship over the past year. You are a special group of people and I will definitely miss you. I wish each and every one of you the very best in all your future endeavours in both professional and personal lives. Please keep in touch!
