Dewey to LC Reclassification Project Action in Launceston

Some scenes from the work being done in Launceston over the summer break. Only one small section of the books remains to be relabelled and around 80% of the serials have also been completed. Over 70 staff participated in the relabelling and relocation and around 20 were involved in the reclassification and problem solving.

Graeme Rayner's Launceston Farewell

Graeme travelled to Launceston on Tuesday the 16th to catch up with Northern colleagues before his retirement on Friday. Past and present staff joined Graeme at a morning tea and later a small group joined him for lunch at Seaport.

Farewell Morning Tea for Chong

A morning tea was held Wednesday 3rd of Febuary  to farewell Chong who is returning to Singapore to work for Apple Inc. - Chong worked on the IT help desk and the Client Services Desk in the Morris Miller Library before moving to IT.  All the library staff will miss his friendly personality and can do attitude.

He is being replaced by Kevin Eaves who will be the Library IT support tech.

A parting word from Chong............

Dear all,

As you may know, my last day working at UTAS IT Resources is on the 5th February 2010.
I have recently accepted an offer from Apple Inc. in Singapore and will be moving there shortly. I will miss Tasmania but am looking forward to returning to Singapore, as I will be closer to my family.
In the past 4 years that I have worked for UTAS (Library, Accommodation Services and ITR), I have learned tremendously. If not for your constant support and encouragement I would not have been able to perform my duties so well. Professionally, I have gained a lot of knowledge and I shall always cherish this as one of the most satisfying phases in my career.
Personally too I have shared a special bonding with all of you and I shall take away with me cherished memories of our times together. I look forward to any of you visiting me in Singapore and if there is anything I can do for you from there, please do let me know.
But before I go, I wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed my time here. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my work colleagues and let you all know how I've enjoyed working with you guys. I wish you all success in the future and am grateful for the opportunity to work with you.

Once again, thank you all for your support, patience, guidance and friendship over the past year. You are a special group of people and I will definitely miss you. My husband Mat and I recently visited Bali. We ushered in 2010 on the beach in Sanur and then did a loop around the East coast, staying in Candidasa and Amed. We then stayed in Lovina in the north and then came back through the middle via Munduk, Ubud, ending up in Jimbaran.
